India’s exports to China grow 40%, deficit crosses $100 billion
India’s exports to China rose 40.7% to $19.26 billion in January–September 2026, but imports reached $125.19 billion, widening the trade deficit to $105.93 billion. This reflects India’s dependence on Chinese machinery, electronics and critical materials. India must strengthen domestic manufacturing, diversify supply chains, enhance export competitiveness and pursue strategic economic engagement.
